Sleep

Shall I read you something tonight?
Shall I read you a story on kings and their theories?
Or is it the princesses life that'll lead you to slumber?
Shall I tell you about the warriors who conquered the earth?
Or is it the rabbits and the duck that'll bring out the mirth?
Sleep oh my dear child
For tomorrow is another day.
New nightmares will be born.
And a worse reality will slowly replace it.
Sleep oh my dear child
For by gones are by gones
What's lost is lost
What's won is won
For there will never be a night like tonight
For there will never be a tear to fear
It is in the dreams you rise, it is in them you fall
Only when you sleep the soundest sleep of them all
Shall I read you something tonight?
Shall I read you a story of men and their old glory?
Or is it the strength of a woman that fascinates you more?
Shall I tell you of a great commoner?
Or a hero more popular?
Of wars that destroyed?
Or of the peace never achieved?
Of love lost?
At a whole life's cost?
Shall I read you something tonight?
