The End

The end is near
Of breaths and
a million gazes
The end is near
Of mighty monuments
Of marble carved ways
The end is near
Of the happy monsoon
Of placid lakes
It is not a tsunami that will end it
It is not the shattering of earth plates
It is merely a whiff of air
Just one warm exhale
One sudden blinding light
Just a spark in the forest
One frail stroke of lightening
That will destroy nations of harmony
That will strike the pillars of solidarity
And shake everything out of its sweet slumber
It will destroy everything in its path
And conquer the peace
till it's last bits are scattered all around
Till resilience and patience are enslaved to darkness
Till faith is caught and captured in metal chains
Till flesh aches and the veins within burst open
Till love is declared to be hung till death.
The end is here
In all it's entirety
Of torn souls and broken hearts.
Of rotten hopes and infested scars.

Some Things

Some things will never change

The winds would blow

And the trees would shed
Autumn goes as winter sets

Longing for a glimpse of thee
Wandering the streets for eternity

I walked alone, I walked together
But found no where my consort to be.

Searched the gardens
Swam the oceans

Measured the winds and
Gaped at the moon

Soon enough I found my answer
Naïve I was, you see,

Took too long to learn that
Thee won't come to see me,

For lovers don't meet somewhere
They are in each other all along!

-Based on a quote from Rumi.

If...

If you were a colour
I'd be the same shade
If you were a painting
I'd be every stroke in it

If you were a tide
I'd be its froth
Its salt
If you were air
I'd be the dust
that you lift

I'd be the sweat
I'd be the blood
I'd be the impulse
I'd be your pulse

I'd be whatever
You want me to be
I'd be your soul
And we'd be whole

We'd be inseparable
We'd be inseverable
So we can live and die
Holding hands forever

Wanderlust

Wanderlust if you must
For its not always for places
But even applies to people and spaces
You are not only a nomad
When it comes to cities or towns
You are a slave to new experiences without any bounds
I know the desperation that shows up
Each time I smell good food
After having savoured enough bites
I want to know if it was an Indian who cooked the delicious Thai
I want to know the genius who built the wheel
And the artist who created that rocket
I want to meet the man who invented the fan
And the ninja who bakes 3 story wedding cakes
Won't it be crazy to be friends with an Encyclopedia writer
How peaceful would it be
To live with a Nobel peace prize winner?
How are bell bottom pants stitched?
How are sunrises clicked?
The first boy I shook hands with in kindergarten
What he must be like now
Someday I shall take a train and
Shake hands with all my co-passengers
Say hello to all those with me in a lift
And not pretend they didn't exist at all
To not pretend I have too many text messages
That I am too busy to look up
I want to tattoo my back with a map
Of all the people I ever met
Of all they brought into my life
For all they changed in me
Some those who even short-changed me.
After those endless days and nights
They at least taught me a few things right
We all bleed, we all sink
We have all made ourselves that one stiff drink
Alright, maybe a few stiff drinks!
Dreams are like sugar cubes
Our tears will melt them
Our fears will crumble them
But they continue to sweeten our lives
We continue to trust
We love to love
For all the joy romance brings
Each heart break takes a piece of you with it
Sometimes a big chunk
Sometimes as a small trunk
Certain songs are your favourite
Less because of its composition
More because of the memories
Art is intensified individualism
Politics is legalised vandalism
But the most I remember of what they taught me,
Is that the world is a happy place
If that's how you look at it.
If you let out a sigh, the universe sighs with you.
If you pass a smile to stranger, they will
No matter what, smile right back at you!

Angry are we?

A saint asked his disciples, Why do we shout in anger? Why do people shout at each other when they are upset? Disciples thought for a while, one of them said,”Because we lose our calm, we shout for that.” “But why to shout when the other person is just next to you?” asked the saint. “Isnt it possible to speak to him or her with a soft voice? Why do you shout at a person when you are angry?” Disciples gave some other answers both none satisfied the saint. Finally he explained, “When two people are angry at each other, their hearts distance alot. To cover that distance they must shout to hear each other. The angrier they are, the stronger they will have to shout to hear each other through that great distance.” Then the saint asked, “What happens when two people fall in love? They dont’shout at each other but talk softly, why? Because their hearts are very close. The distance between them is very small…” The saint continued,”When they love each other even more, what happens? They do not speak, only whisper and they get even closer to each other in their love. Finally they need not even whisper, they look at each other and that’s all. That is how close two people are when they love each other.”

2012

A poem we wrote together...do you remember?

2012, The end of the world

If the world were meant to end
As they said in twenty twelve
I'd sweep off all the urges
Gathering dust on the shelves

I'd come out and tell you
All that you mean to me
I'd tell you you're everything
That love has been to me

That the world could go its own way
And we'd be someplace higher
Rising up as one life from
The trampoline of desire

That life on earth is but a pause
Our journey is infinite
That life and love are both the same
no matter how we spin it

I'd hold you all through twenty twelve
And as we reached the end
I'd be glad I didn't hold back,
And let myself pretend

The Unfulfilled One

I melt in your arms
Like i have never known before
You took me to the depth of waters
Which I often gazed at from the banks of it

You held me in your warmth
And told me its ok to fall back
You unlock the floodgates of emotions
That I’d tremble doing so otherwise

I melt in your delicacy
Like its meant to be
I find the roots of calm
As if its the easiest thing to achieve

My reflection gets a name
And you make it sound like poetry
But I’ll never confess,
For  the purest of love
Is always the unfulfilled one...

Colour-Blind

For a man who sees everything
As brown and grey
It must be quite odd to have a woman
Who sees a world full of colours

The difference between burnt sienna
And the burnt amber
The cobalt and the ultramarine
To the turquoise-aquamarine

But what would it all be to a man
Who's vision is all monochrome
Who's poem is one he reads alone
Who's heart is nothing but forlorn

His world of monochromes
What use to him is a rainbow
Meaning of bright blue eyes
Or rosy pink lips

What hue is the sky?
And many million shades of green.
Does gold tempt him?
Or blood disgust him?

What shade is his envy?
How dark is his temper?
How dull is a moment?
How sparkling is his wine?

I could never tell for I only saw him
As perfect as it would get
Through my rose tinted glasses
Or so they said

My lover of monochromes
Our love story of monotones

Heartbreaks Are Strange

Heartbreaks are strange
Sometimes they don't even give you
Enough time to wallow in their depths

As if everything starts rushing just then
No-one stops to hear
No-one stops to care
The person who you need the most
Becomes hearing impaired

All that was spring
Is now cold winter
All that was green
Has dried and fallen

Time stops and lovers leave
Needles in your heart are buried deep

All that you knew
Is far from what it used to be
Whatever was the truth
Is just the crust of what's true

Heartbreaks are strange
Sometimes they don't even give you
Enough time to sit and stare

The moments that mattered the most
The love, your life depended on
The touch you woke upto
The soul that belonged to you

As if everything starts rushing just then
No-one stops to hear
No-one stops to care
The person who you need the most
Becomes hearing impaired

You fall into the cracks of the earth
And those crack close on you
You breath your last few
And prepare to be dead

Time stops and lovers leave
Needles in your heart are buried deep

"My Immortal"

A song that echoes my current state of mind. Maybe all emotions, all feelings are universal. Maybe we all think the same way, love the same way. Sometimes everybody hurts, sometimes everything is wrong...

To MY immortal,

I'm so tired of being here
Suppressed by all my childish fears
And if you have to leave
I wish that you would just leave
'Cause your presence still lingers here
And it won't leave me alone

These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase

When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have
All of me

You used to captivate me
By your resonating light
Now I'm bound by the life you left behind
Your face it haunts
My once pleasant dreams
Your voice it chased away
All the sanity in me

These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase

I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone
But though you're still with me
I've been alone all along
